PIURA
Piura deriva de la palabra quechua “Pirhua” que significa granero o depósito de abastecimiento.
En tiempos remotos Piura era una base de abastecimiento de los pobladores quechuas.
El departamento de Piura se encuentra ubicado al norte del territorio peruano. Limita por el Norte con Tumbes y la República del Ecuador; por el Este con la República del Ecuador y Cajamarca; por el Sur con Lambayeque; por el Oeste limita con el Océano Pacífico.
El departamento de Piura ciudad del algarrobo es llamada la "Ciudad Blanca" por la arquitectura que adorna la ciudad.
Piura tiene muchos lugares y atractivos turísticos en la ciudad encontraremos la plaza más antigua del país, sus puentes colgantes que atraviesan el río Piura, su catedral, sus parques, sus provincias y distritos como Catacaos, Chulucanas, Sullana, Talara, Paita, etc.
Los piuranos son famosos por la preparación de sus ricos cebiches, los piqueos criollos y las variedades de chicha de jora que los pueden acompañar. La chicha se sirve en los tradicionales "potos", y cuando es ligera y se saca de la superficie de los cántaros, recibe el nombre de "clarito" y suele tomarse como aperitivo en un "poto" pequeño que para sorpresa de muchos se llama "cojudito. En Piura encontrará hoteles cómodos, excelente comida, buena música, hermosa artesanía, playas limpias en donde pueden realizar deportes acuáticos como Máncora y Colán, movilidad a todos los lugares turísticos, gente amable que te hará sentir como en casa.
El Departamento de Piura es cuna de los mejores ejemplares de caballo de paso a nivel nacional; éste es sinónimo de nobleza y fidelidad, reconocido en el mundo por su temperamento, altivez y elegancia, también forma parte de nuestra riqueza cultural.
Piura se hace presente en los diversos concursos con los mejores potros, yeguas, capones y potrancas criados por reconocidas familias del lugar que conservan esta tradición, cultivando en los niños el amor por los caballos y su crianza; tradición que enorgullece a todos los piuranos y que lo compartimos con nuestros visitantes.
La asociación de criadores de caballos de paso, después de muchos años de esfuerzo han logrado adquirir un local de 40 mil metros cuadrados, que queda a 1 Km. del caserío los Ejidos. Este local tiene una elegante infraestructura, con una hermosa tribuna y una amplia cancha verde para el entrenamiento de los caballos.
Aunado al espectáculo propio del andar artístico y ligero del caballo de paso, podremos apreciar a los chalanes y amazonas, personajes que montados sobre él, dominan las riendas, dándole un mayor colorido y elegancia a las exhibiciones.
Todos los fanáticos del también conocido caballo "champagne" están invitados a ser partícipes de los espectáculos y concursos organizados por nuestros criadores piuranos.
Desierto Mágico
Piura se extiende sobre una rica región agrícola y petrolera, pese al temible desierto de Sechura, los generosos valles Piuranos producen el extraordinario algodón pima, aémas de arroz, soya, trigo y frutales.
La unión de Sechura con el mar da nacimiento a los mas bellos paisajes de la costa peruana, abundan los cabos, las bahias, las penínsulas, las curvas, las puntas y las quebradas. Posee bellas playas de arenas blanquísimas y un mar de aguas azules, ideal para la pesca deportiva. Sus abundantes recursos petrolíferos convierten a Piura en el Reservorio Nacional.
A Bayovar llega, a través del oleoducto Norperuano, el petroleo proveniente de la Selva para ser distribuido en todo el país. La ordenada y limpia Ciudad de Talara es el centro petrolero más importante del Perú.
